Dakota County judge scolded for undignified comments
A judge in Dakota County was reprimanded Thursday for behaving disrespectfully in court. But the agency issuing the discipline isn't saying exactly what Judge Richard Spicer said to get himself in trouble.

Spicer, who said through a spokesman that he is not allowed to comment, was reprimanded for what the Minnesota Board on Judicial Standards called "disparaging speech" directed at a defendant in his courtroom.

Key figures in the county's judicial system, including the chief judge, the county attorney, and the chief public defender, either were out of town on Thursday or could not be reached for comment.
Dakota County judges have long been known for a freewheeling, oldschool style of justice that has often drawn controversy.
